  • Overview

A red 2020 Chevy Impala is facing left.

Even though full-size sedans are not as popular as they used to be, there is one large car that is still holding its ground. That’s the new 2020 Chevy Impala. This beautiful ride has always held a top spot in the full-size sedan market. Its sophisticated style, roomy interior, and numerous advanced features make it a very attractive vehicle for professionals, small families, and retirees.

Inside the cabin, there is ample seating for up to five people. The interior is so comfortable that you will feel like you’re sitting in your recliner at home. The plush seating is a nice change from the more economical seating of compact cars. Meanwhile, the spacious trunk offers 18.8 cubic feet of cargo room for storing groceries or luggage. You can also fold up a stroller and transport it easily in this room boot. There’s enough space for your essentials and a few extra things without being too large. Not everyone wants a crossover or an SUV.

Some folks like to refer to the Impala as a cruiser. This is because the vehicle is so comfortable to drive that people just enjoy taking these models out for a spin. If you are the type of person who enjoys weekend joyrides, this is the ride for you.

Let’s take a closer look at the performance specs, interior features, and exterior styling elements of this sleek sedan.

  • Performance

The 2020 Chevy Impala is a well-rounded vehicle that has kept in touch with its grassroots throughout the years. Engineers at Chevrolet wanted to build a large, comfortable sedan that offers a lot of power and a smooth driving experience. So, they built the Chevy Impala.

    The Chevy Impala's Engine

Every 2020 Impala model is powered by the same 3.6-liter V6 engine. Equipped with FWD and a six-speed automatic transmission, this robust powertrain generates 305 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque. Due to the powerful engine resting under the hood, the Impala only gets about 22 MPG combined (19 city/28 highway). While this might seem a bit low, the trade-off is a much smoother driving experience. It uses direct-injection technology to maximize the efficiency of the motor, and electronic stability control plus traction helps to keep the vehicle stable while going around sharp bends or turns. The MacPherson front suspension features a stabilizer bar and gas-charged struts for the best ride experience of your life.

  • Interior

The 2020 Chevy Impala is only available in two trim levels. This is a rare thing since most cars are offered in at least four or five trims. However, one could argue that it’s difficult to change up perfection.

With this large sedan, there is no such thing as a base model because there is nothing basic about this set of wheels. The first trim is known as the LT, and it is equipped similarly to a mid-level trim on any other competitor model. You get a lot of nifty features with this beauty. We will begin by covering a few convenient tech features like keyless ignition/entry and remote start. These three functions allow you to get your morning going in a more efficient manner. You can pre-set your seat and temperature settings and turn the vehicle on remotely before ever stepping foot outside. This is ideal for the winter months when you would prefer not to slip inside a freezing cold car. Start the engine from inside the comfort of your home, and go outside when you are ready. Keep in mind that you don’t have to fumble around looking for your keys inside a bag or purse, either. As long as the key fob is on your person, the car will start for you.

    The LT Trim

The cabin is draped in faux leather and cloth upholstery, and dual-zone climate control allows you to maintain specific temperature zones inside the vehicle. The driver’s seat is power-adjustable to suit your height, and the rear air vents will keep backseat passengers comfortable. The infotainment interface is displayed on a large 8-inch touchscreen that operates with a rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. You can listen to music, make calls, send texts, and navigate through your favorite apps using this innovative system. Stay connected with the online world everywhere you go with the handy 4G LTE Wifi hotspot, and listen to your personalized playlist or satellite radio through the six-speaker stereo system. Dual USB ports are also provided for you to charge more than one mobile device at the same time.

If you want to add more features to the LT trim, you have two packages at your disposal. The Convenience package adds an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats for the ultimate experience in comfort. The other package is the Driver Confidence suite. This includes advanced safety features such as rear parking sensors, blindspot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Each of these systems works in unison to help prevent accidents on the road and in parking lots. You won’t have to worry about not seeing something behind you or at your side.

    The Premier Trim

The second trim is known as the Premier. This model takes things to a whole new level of sophistication. The cabin is covered in subtle leather upholstery, and power-adjustability has been added to the front passenger seat. You can also set a relaxing mood by utilizing the ambient lighting feature. A navigation system has been added to the upgraded infotainment interface, and the stereo has also been upgraded to an 11-speaker Bose sound system with a CD player. To help keep the cabin clear of clutter a wireless charging pad has also been added as well as heated seats.

As with the LT trim, there are also optional packages at the Premier level. The Premier Convenience suite adds a heated/power-adjustable steering wheel, ventilated seats, driver memory settings, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Premier Confidence package includes additional safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning. These added safety functions help to protect you and your loved ones on the road. Keep in mind that you can also add a sunroof as a stand-alone option.

  • Exterior

Just like with the interior, the exterior features will vary depending on which trim level you choose. However, since there are only two trims, it’s easy to pick which one you like more. Let’s look at some of the differences between the LT and the Premier.

Exterior Features of the LT Trim

Rolling on 18-inch alloy wheels, the LT features power-adjustable/heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, halogen headlamps, body-colored door handles, and LED daytime running lamps. All-season tires are perfect for driving year-around, and the 17-inch spare wheel is compact and useful in an emergency.

Optional exterior styling elements on the LT include 18-inch aluminum wheels with a unique 5-spoke design with painted pockets and chrome mirror caps. You can also add things such as front/rear splash guards, gloss black emblems, a front license plate holder, a rear spoiler, and wheel locks.

    The Premier Trim

Moving up to the Premier will get you larger 19-inch aluminum wheels, chrome door handles with body-colored strips, automatic HID headlamps, and chrome front sill plates. All-season tires are also equipped on this model, and the same 17-inch compact spare wheel is included in the event of a flat tire.

Optional exterior features on the Premier model include 20-inch aluminum wheels, front/rear splash guards, a front license plate holder, a dual-pane power sunroof, gloss black emblems, wheel locks, and a rear spoiler.

    Paint Color Choices

Finally, we can move on to paint colors. Choosing the exterior color is just as important as picking a trim level. However, you only have five options with the 2020 Chevy Impala. You can choose from the following shades: Black, Cajun Red Tintcoat, Silver Ice Metallic, Summit White, and Iridescent Pearl Tricoat.
